Case Study: How Mursion Found Order in the Overload
Industry: AI/VR Simulated Learning
Firm Type: Startup
Regions of Operation: United States and Europe

The Backstory
Mursion builds immersive VR simulations that train people in the toughest skill of all, human interaction. Before it became a recognised name in experiential learning, its simulations were already transforming how professionals practised empathy, communication, and leadership. Mursion was ready to think bigger, but somewhere between ambition and reality sat a very human problem: bandwidth.
Mursion’s vision had outpaced its internal capacity, leaving the team juggling innovation with overload.
When Growing Pains Turned Technical
The vision was bold; the deadlines were bolder.
Mursion set out to strengthen its architecture, integrate advanced AI, and make its platform globally accessible while managing a stretched team and impossible delivery timelines. That’s when growth started speaking fluent chaos.
Evon Technologies stepped in as a tech advisory and development partner to help the company bring order to its expansion. Three core hurdles stood out:
- AI Integration: Embedding artificial intelligence into simulations to automate repetitive tasks and improve realism.
- System Scalability: Rebuilding the architecture to handle heavier AI workloads and boost performance.
- Accessibility and Localisation: Designing modules for Accessibility (a11y) and Internationalisation (i18n) to make the portal inclusive across regions and languages.
From Scramble to Structure
Evon introduced its eHire staff augmentation model to build a dedicated team in Dehradun, India, where the company is headquartered. Working from a quieter city gave access to focused engineering talent without the high operational cost or distraction of larger hubs.
The engagement began with four engineers and expanded to twenty-three within ten months, bringing together backend, frontend, Unity, AI, and QA specialists. Three main work streams formed:
- Core application development
- Unity simulation software
- AI and analytics
To sustain the momentum, Evon added QA automation, DevOps processes, and tighter pull-request reviews. As the partnership matured, Mursion’s reliance on its earlier Russian team dropped from 100 percent to 20, leading to faster releases and cleaner builds.
Once the framework stabilised, innovation picked up speed. Engineers integrated AI-driven analytics that recognised facial expressions and behavioural cues in real time, improving learner feedback accuracy.
Evon also delivered Accessibility (a11y) and Internationalisation (i18n) modules, enabling Mursion’s portal to meet WCAG 2.1 standards and operate in ten languages.
Key Deliveries
- Demand-based scheduling for dynamic session control
- LTI 1.3 support for LMS integrations
- Mursion Email Branding and Portal 2.0 launch
- SIM Workforce Management and Instant Booking
- Structured video retention and holiday restriction policies
With each delivery, Mursion became more immersive, more intelligent, and unmistakably itself.
New Feel of the Dashboard
2021 turned into a breakout year:
- 5x increase in simulation sessions
- 20 industry awards, including:
- Gold Medal for Best Advance in Leadership Simulation Tools (2021)
- Bronze Medal for Diversity and Inclusion Innovation (2021)
- Bronze Medal for Augmented and Virtual Reality (2021)
- 11 Gold Medals at the 2020 Brandon Hall Excellence Awards
Mursion also featured among the 2021 Fastest Growing Companies, Brands That Matter, World Changing Ideas, and Best in Business in Human Resources. It later appeared in the EdTech 150 List in Workforce Learning (2022).
Mursion's success was no longer limited by region or capacity. With Evon’s engineering support, the company gained scale, stability, and global reach.
What It Meant to Us
Building a platform that teaches people to communicate better ended up teaching us something too. It reminded us that technology becomes meaningful when it amplifies human nuance. Watching that transformation unfold through something we helped create has been deeply rewarding for the entire team.
